Miami, FL. – Sunday, November 15, 2009, Radford University’s Nick Schrank earned the NAFL East Coast MVP Award after his stellar performance in the NAFL All-Star Game. Only three other players in the nation, each coming from North, East, South and West divisions, received this great honor.

After an astounding performance at Outside Linebacker for the East Coast All-Stars, Nick Schrank ended the night with a total of eight solo tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a bone-crushing sack, placing him at the top of the list for receiving the MVP award. Fellow Radford University teammate, Jeremy Sturgill put on an amazing show at the defensive tackle position for the East Coast squad as well. Due to a dislocated shoulder late in the third quarter, Jeremy Sturgill was put out of contention for the East’s MVP, but up until that time, he was nipping at the heels of Nick Schrank for the MVP spotlight.

Nick Schrank spent his time at outside linebacker for the All-Star game, playing with teammates hailing from all over the original thirteen colonies. Unfortunately, the North defeated the East Coast 24-21, with the winning touchdown coming late in the fourth quarter, but the entire game showcased the talents of both teams and was highly entertaining with big plays on both sides of the ball.

SANTA MONICA, CA (January 9, 2010) - Nick Schrank and Kappel LeRoy Clarke didn't waste anytime getting to work on their first day of training, starting the first session at 8 a.m. With the morning coming bright and early for Nick Schrank, fresh off the plane late yesterday afternoon, Kappel and Nick met up at the "California Stretch" near the Santa Monica Pier for some unconventional training in the Fre Flo Do philosophy.

After the Workout, Kappel pleasantly surprised Nick with an old friend of his that he thought Nick would enjoy talking to. Check out the video to see the excitement in Nick's eyes from Kappel's generous act of kindness. Good People. Good Energy. Good Love.

Jacob Nichols lead Radford's defense to a 46-20 victory over the Columbia Southern Rebels with 2 interceptions and double-digit tackles.

Richmond, VA - Sunday, November 1, 2009 marked the first professional tryout for Radford's Nick Schrank with the Richmond Revolution and the cross-city rival Richmond Raiders. Along with 4 of his Summer League teammates from the VA Crimson Cardinals, the workouts consisted of position specific drills, the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, 225 bench press max and the broad jump.

Dublin, VA - Saturday, November 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., Radford University hosted the George Mason University Patriots from Fairfax, VA. Pregame started with the commemoration of Radford's inaugural 2008 season. The beginning of the Tradition was celebrated as well as reaffirmed that it is NOW.

Tradition. Is. NOW. was echoed by the announcer before the start of the game, and as Radford kicker, Matt Broomel booted one inside the 5, the battle was quickly under way.

Radford University adopted its first football team in school history early 2008. The squad is making its journey to the top. Tradition Starts Now and continues Tomorrow. Do you want to be a part of the Tradition?

Local community leaders and abroad have provided relief to the financial burden of establishing a new football program. Radford University Football is forever indebted to its Team Sponsors. With out the help of external support, the program would not be where it is. Plans for the future only look brighter.

Buena Vista, VA - Even though it was Halloween and pulling all tricks out of the bag, Radford was unable to snuff out the Southern Virginia University Knights in Buena Vista for their Senior Day.

Celebrating the careers of nine SVU players Saturday, October 31, 2009 in Buena Vista, Radford hoped to give the Knights a run for their money, but the leading seniors of SVU weren't going to let that happen.
